Draw in the Street – Chalk Art Contest

Wake Forest Arts presents Draw in the Street, a Chalk Art Contest on South White Street during Dirt Day on Saturday, April 7, 2018.

chalk-art-viewersDraw on the Street will take place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. with prizes awarded at 2:30 p.m.  It is open to area school art students and families.

Registration is FREE and must be done before March 15.  Participants can register by emailing Tanya Johnson, Wake Forest Arts Youth Programs Director. Provide Tanya with your team member names and the adult art teacher or parent who will accompany the team as a chaperone, which is required for all teams.

Those who register before March 15, will be provided with contest rules and details for the day.

The theme for Draw on the Street is Celebrate Spring! Upon check-in at the Wake Forest Arts booth, each team will be given a 4×4 foot space along South White Street which will be closed to traffic during Dirt Day. They will also be given a box of pastel chalk, generously provided by our sponsor Jerry’s Artarama, which will also be providing prizes for our winners.

Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, Best in Originality, Best Technique, & People’s Choice. Judges will determine the winners, except for People’s Choice which will be determined by Dirt Day attendees who complete a paper ballot.

Teams should check-in by 10:45 a.m. on the day of the event at the Wake Forest Arts booth in front of the Depot Parking lot along South White Street. They will have until 1:55 p.m. to complete their chalk art drawings. Judges will be viewing the chalk drawing at 2 p.m. to determine winners and awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m.  Dirt Day ends at 3 p.m. and everyone must be off of South White Street which will be opening back up to traffic.
