Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Classical Music Series – October 2014

Wake Forest ARTS and the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre are presenting a Classical Music Series in October, starting with a concert tomorrow afternoon. Here’s the lineup; for more information on any of the concerts, please visit the Renaissance Centre web page, or call 919-435-9458.

Sunday, October 5, 2014; 3PM: Close to Home featuring the Free Spirit Ensemble of the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, with works of area recognized composers including: Lawrence Dillon, Bryan Putnam, Lanette Lind, Ann Pearce and Daniel Poissant.

Sunday, October 12, 2014; 3PM: Pianist David Kim, winner of numerous musical and academic prizes, will perform works by Mozart and Beethoven on his 5 octave Viennese piano, with a talk and demonstration.

Sunday, October 19, 2014; 3PM: Edward Burke, will perform a solo guitar concert. Works include Fantasie on Themes from Verdi’s La Traviata, Five Impromptus by Bennet, Fantasie Chevaleresque, OP 15 by Coste and Selections from 24 Caprichos de Goya by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

Friday, October 24, 2014; 7:30PM: The Free Spirit Ensemble of the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra will explore classic folk tunes in new forms. Featured works include arrangements by Nofinofo, Corigliano and Lind plus several works by Copland.
