June 9: another “Neck of the Woods” evening

The Neck of the Woods Performance Series is back! After a few months of transition, Cora Hemphill will now take the reins as the new artistic director. Cora is a local actor and dancer. She is excited to help provide a place for local performing artists to share their work with their community.
Neck of the Woods will take place on June 9, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Twisted Vine Wine Shoppe in downtown Wake Forest. The event is free, and the suggested donation is $5 for the artists. We look forward to seeing you there!

Artists Featured in our June 9th Show:

Cora Hemphill: Cora has lived in Wake Forest for 16 years. She grew up on the stage at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School where she developed a love for theatre and dance. She pursued this interest further and received her degree in Theatre Performance at Greensboro College. Now a husband and two kids later, Cora is so excited to be sharing her art in her hometown. Some of her experience includes Heidi in “The Heidi Chronicles”, Madge in “Picnic” and Rosemary in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”. As an artist Cora really enjoys challenging herself and exploring new ways to combine the skills that she has. She hopes that each performance will communicate something honest and genuine.

Tom V: Originally from the Chicago area, TomV has been in North Carolina for about six years. Involved with the NC Songwriters Coop, Tom plays at local events around the area in the summer months whenever possible. Winter months are spent writing and testing the waters at open mics around the area. Music has always been a major interest and the original composition aspect has become an enjoyable focus over the last few years.

Velvet Goldfish: Velvet Goldfish is a local Wake Forest band composed of Jeanna Jinks (vocals/flute), Larry Gronmeyer (vocals/acoustic guitar), Bob Chojnacki (bass) and Scott Hull (percussion). Award-winning water colorist (www.jinksstudio.com) and engineers by day, this group of 40-somethings enjoy putting their own spin on music from their youth to today. They have also been known to write an original song or two. You can learn more about this band and their sound on their Facebook and YouTube pages.
